The location of Sandvik is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, next to the clean waters of Båven, wich is one of the largest lake in the province of Södermanland, and one of the cleanest in Sweden. With many islands and few mosquitoes it is an ideal place to discover nature by canoe. Stockholm City is about 100km away or one hour and twenty minutes by car. Skavsta airport os only 20 km away; Ryanair uses this airport as its Nordic hub and from here there are direct flights to London, Paris and Frankfurt, amongst others. The nearest large town is Nyköping, about 30km away. Nyköping is the capital of the province and is a pretty town with all the main shops. Ripsa is a small hamlet with a church and about 100 population. However a hundred years ago the population was over 1,000, with many people being employed in farming. The small village has a nice restaurant Täppan that serves a delicious smorgasbord. Täppan is just in walking distance from Sandvik. |

Sandvik is a manor house with estate originating from the 18th century.
The original estate was some 300ha; today the estate is much smaller,
about 20ha. The present owner of the adjacent estate, Edeby, acquired
much of the surrounding forest and land prior to the Peacock family buying
Sandvik in 1999.
